Tokyo Biennale announces that “Tokyo Biennale 2020 Unseen Everyday Scene Purity×Earnestness×Deviation-“, which was to take place this summer, has been modified the period to 2021. This decision is considered under the current situation caused by COVID-19, which leads the difficulty of realization of international artist’s presence in Tokyo. According to this modification, the title will be altered to “Tokyo Biennale 2020/2021” with the core period to be held in summer 2021, while several projects will be carried out in 2020 as part of the pre-period.
Throughout next year’s core period, Tokyo Biennale will continuously share its process by launching “Tokyo Biennale note”, an online platform that will feature interviews with artists and progress of each project.
Please keep your attention on “Tokyo Biennale 2020/2021”, which will be the first international art festival to be held in Tokyo through the postponement of Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics and outbreak of coronavirus, although it will be held in about a year.
